What is MILO Fantails?

If you've got young girls looking to give football or futsal a go in a fun and safe environment, MILO Fantails is the programme for you!

MILO Fantails is a programme designed to attract new female players aged 4–12 years old to the beautiful game through sessions focused on helping girls make friends, having fun, improving their skills and being active through football.

Sessions will take place throughout the remainder of the year, and are now rolling out all across Aotearoa New Zealand.

MILO Fantails Day

This event is aimed towards girls aged between 5 to 10 years old either completely new to the game or who have experienced the Fantails Programme.

This event will be capped with entrants so please do get in quick to register. We encourage clubs to join us in being involved with the delivery, should you like to be a part of the day please contact steeve@capitalfootball.org.nz

How do I book someone to attend a MILO Fantails session?
You can book their place online before attending a session or just turn up and the hub will get you registered manually.

To register online - You’ll be able to do this from the search results when you search for your nearest session on the Fantails page.

My daughter is really nervous and has never played football before, can she attend MILO Fantails?
Definitely! This programme is perfect for her. We believe that football is for everyone and want to ensure that every girl has an opportunity to take part and has a great experience. Get in touch with your hub and let them know how they can best support.

Is there an equivalent boys programme?
MILO Fantails was developed to target female participants as currently only 1 in 5 players playing football in NZ are female. We have over 400 clubs in NZ that offer NZF's Junior Framework and all of these clubs offer boys or mixed football, however only a small percentage offer a girls programme. If you have a young boy who would like to play, please contact your local federation or club to see what's on offer.

How long does a MILO Fantails session last?
Sessions usually last one hour however this may vary so please check with the hub before attending.

What do you wear to a MILO Fantails session?
Comfortable clothes she can run around in. You don’t need to wear boots if you don’t have them.

Can she bring a friend to a MILO Fantails session?
Absolutely! All hubs welcome new girls to participate and will offer free sessions for new players.

Who runs the MILO Fantails sessions?
All sessions are delivered by our super friendly, NZF qualified coaches. The welfare of your daughter is key, so we ensure that all MILO Fantails coaches are fully trained in health and safety, safeguarding and more.

How much does it cost to attend a MILO Fantails session?
All sessions charge up to a maximum of $5. Futsal sessions are up to a maximum of $8. Please check those delivering the session though, as they will offer free taster sessions for new girls.

How do I volunteer at a MILO Fantails session?
You don’t need be a football genius to volunteer at MILO Fantails. If you love having fun and want to learn more about being a coach please contact your local hub.
