U18 WOMEN'S LEAGUE UPDATE

Capital Football would like to thank the clubs within our Federation for their time and effort in attempting to create teams for the proposed U18 Women’s League. Unfortunately, due to a lack of numbers, we we will not be able to run an U18 League in the regular 11-aside format during the 2018 winter season.

We realise the importance of keeping these young women in the game and understand the difficulty for female youth players who are caught between junior and senior football. To keep these players engaged and allow them to still play for their clubs, we would like to propose an alternative option in the form of an U18 Women's 9-aside competition.

U18 Women’s 9-aside Competition

  • Played once a month at Maidstone Park, Upper Hutt (beginning Sunday 20th May);
  • Sunday games;
  • 9 aside;
  • Reduced field size;
  • Individual players are invited to attend on the day and will be accommodated into a team;
  • New teams can enter at any time

The clubs we are aware of who have firmly indicated a desire to enter teams are:

  1. Douglas Villa
  2. Island Bay United
  3. Miramar Rangers
  4. Upper Hutt City

Clubs will not be charged full affiliation fees and we will be exploring ways of keeping the costs as low as possible for those involved.

If any other clubs would like to enter teams or composite teams, please email Emma Evans (emma@capitalfootball.org.nz) by Friday 11th May.

Capital Football will be implementing the Female Youth Project in High Schools from Term 2 and we hope we will see more teams and individuals enter this competition as the weeks go on.
