AWARDS NIGHT SHINES ON 2018 SEASON SUCCESS

Last night saw the celebration of the 2018 Football Season. Top honours of the night were shared with those making the trip from over the hill, Wairarapa United taking out both Head Coach and Women’s W-League Player of the year, with Paul Ifill and Meisha Boone. Western Suburbs Chatham Cup finalist Elijah Just deservedly named Capital Football’s Men’s Central League Player of the Year.

This year brought the inaugural presentation of the Men’s Futsal Player of the Year, Women’s Futsal Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, with the deserved  Lucas Da Silva, Sarah Alder and Shingo Ina all present to collect their awards. The inclusion of the Futsal awards is a continued nod to the growth of the space in the Capital, and the success of the development pathways.

OFC U-16 Championship winning, and FIFA U-17 World Cup bound New Zealand U-17 Coach and Team Wellington Head Coach, Jose Figueira was on hand for a question and answer session with MC Andrew Wilson.  The discussion providing great insight into the recent tournament in the Solomon Islands and the upcoming ISPS HANDA Premier League.

The awards evening also saw the induction of Bobby Walker and Billy Harris into the Wellington Football Hall of Fame. The two inductees having been exceptionally prominent figures in the footballing community with their involvement as players, coaches and managers.

Success and contribution off the field was also celebrated, with Stop Out's Donna Beech recieving the Administrator of the Year and Upper Hutt's Brian Wood being acknowldged as the Volunteer of the Year.
