It is with great sadness that we pass on the news that Capital Football life member Tom Delahunty has passed away in the early hours of Sunday the 14th of October, 2018.
Tom had an incredible stature in the Football Community and contributed enormously to the game on and off the field. As a respected official he has been regarded as one of the best top-class referees in New Zealand.
Tom’s refereeing accolades, which include refereeing 2 Chatham Cup Finals, 19 international games and holding a F.I.F.A badge for 15 years, highlight his commitment and passion for the game and respect amongst his peers. Tom was also inducted into the Wellington Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
We wish to thank Tom, for his valuable commitment and contribution to Football in the Capital region and across the country. His presence and knowledge will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with Tom’s family and friends through this tough time.
R.I.P Tom.
