2019 Capital Football Awards | Celebrating the successes of the 2019 season

Last Thursday saw the celebration of the 2019 season at the Petone Working Men’s Club. With over 16 clubs represented, the night saw everything from our Local League Players of the Year and the Community Referee of the Year being recognised to the Ultra Football Central League Player of the Year being named.

The night was broken up with interviews from Brodie Wilson, a long standing player of the Waterside Karori Dreamers, the team who have had 53 consecutive wins, Andrew McGoff and the team from the Liverpool FC Supporters club, the driving force behind the successful #KeepWellingtonBeatingCampaign and finally Michaela Robertson, the Wellington United Diamonds stalwart who clocked up 100 games and 100 goals this season.

It was a busy night for Western Suburbs with Ultra Football Men’s Central League winning coach, Ben Sippola taking out Coach of the Year, Josh Rogerson taking out the Ultra Football Men’s Central League Player of the year and Danny Fearon winning Personality of the Year.

A special congratulations must be made to the five gentlemen who were recognised for the Club Service Award, Andrew Martin, Brent Hamlin, Mike Rogers, Dave Wilson and Rob Duncan, their tireless commitment and dedication to the game of football in the community evident in the glowing comments and applause heard on the night.

The Capital’s promising stars were also acknowledged, North Wellington’s Jesse Randall And Waterside Karori’s Zoe Barrott being named Men’s and Women’s Young Player of the Year respectably.
