Maia Vink departing Capital Football

Following on from the news of Katie Barrott leaving Capital Football, we are also sad to report that Maia Vink, Assistant Federation Development Manager, will also be departing for the Wellington Phoenix.

We are pleased to see Maia stay within football in the region as she moves to work with the Wellington Phoenix Women’s A-League team as an Analyst. This is a great opportunity for Maia to move into a professional club environment and one that we certainly don’t begrudge. Since mid to late 2019, Maia has operated across several portfolios leading the women’s and girls’ game and heading up talent opportunities for males and females in the region. Federation Development Manager, Steeve Sharpe was again sad to see Maia move on but excited by the chance in front of her.

“Maia really hit the ground running when she joined Capital Football 3 years ago, and she hasn’t stopped since. Her effervescent nature is infectious, and Maia has often been the Pied Piper for the women’s and girls’ game with literally hundreds of young girls following to her beat at festivals. Maia was also front and centre of the work behind the Capital Football Women’s Strategy in 2021, and this year was integral to the delivery of the first Women in Leadership programme out of the Capital. We understand Maia’s desire to get back into the professional game on a full-time basis and wish her the very best.”

Maia’s final day with Capital Football will be Friday 7th October 2022.
