Capital Football appoints U18's Girls Head Coach

Capital Football is delighted to announce the appointment of its head coach for the Girls’ National Youth Development League squad in 2023. Having led Capital Football’s Women’s National League side last year, Maika Ruyter-Hooley will lead the U18’s through the forthcoming season.

With an amendment to 2022’s structure meaning that the top two (Capital Football based) club teams in the Women’s Central League will partake in the Women’s National League in 2023, Capital Football will not have a representative side, rather work in partnership with two clubs. This change has meant that Maika is available to take on the Capital Football U18’s Girls in 2023.

Ruyter-Hooley is familiar to both youth and senior players throughout the region having held a multitude of roles in both the development and performance space with a variety of clubs. This knowledge, experience and versatility made Maika the outstanding candidate when it came to appointing a head coach for 2023.

Federation Development Manager, Steeve Sharpe is excited to again have Ruyter-Hooley involved with a Capital Football representative team in 2023 “the change of structure to the Women’s National League is a positive one for all, however it does present an additional layer of complexity to work through as to how all Wellington based teams interact. Maika is the perfect person to take the head coach position with the Capital Football U18’s side as not only is she a tremendous coach, but she has excellent relationships with clubs.”

The Girls’ National Youth Development League begins on the weekend of 23rd September running through until the weekend of 18th November 2023. Prior to this selection opportunities will be available to players who meet the age requirement, and players will be identified during the regular season. The remaining staff involved with the Capital Football team will be appointed over the coming weeks.

Capital Football is again looking forward to running an U18’s squad alongside partnering with senior club teams representing the region in the Women’s National League for 2023.
