Following a comprehensive consultation process with 36 clubs across the two Federations, Capital Football and Central Football Boards have agreed to introduce Men’s Central League 2 in 2025.
Across both Federations there was strong support for the introduction (or re-introduction) of Men’s Central League 2 with 79% of Capital clubs and 85% of Central clubs in support of the league.
The change in structure follows on from changes made to the National League System in 2021 and the re-introduction of a club-based National League.
The changes made by Capital and Central provide an opportunity for more clubs to compete in the National League pathway, closing the gap on and off the field between the current Federation Leagues (Men’s Capital Premier and Central Federation League) and the Men’s Central League.
Blair Duncan, Operations Manager at Capital Football, expressed his enthusiasm for the new league structure: "We are excited to introduce Men’s Central League 2, as it provides a fantastic opportunity for more clubs to compete at a higher level. This initiative will not only enhance the competitiveness of our leagues but also contribute to the development of football across our regions. By closing the gap between the Federation Leagues and the Men’s Central League, we are paving the way for a more robust and dynamic football pathway."
